Proyecto Saladita’s school environmental education program in La Saladita, Guerrero — inspiring children to care for the coast through art, recycling, and connection.

Launched in September, Aprender es Proteger is Proyecto Saladita’s school-based environmental education program for children in La Saladita, Guerrero, offered twice a month through the end of the school year. Held at the primary school in our community of Los Llanos, each session brings together all students in a single, shared class—creating a joyful space for learning, creativity, and connection.

We help children understand where trash comes from, what happens when it isn’t managed properly, and how recycling and small daily actions can protect our coast. Our approach is uplifting, inspiring, and fun. Through music, art, and storytelling, we connect with young minds eager to learn—making environmental awareness part of everyday life.

From simple recycling habits to creative projects, students discover that protecting their community and coastline starts with understanding—and that every action, no matter how small, makes a difference.

With Aprender es Proteger, the next generation of Saladita grows up as stewards of the ocean and guardians of their home.

Through education, children learn about our biodiversity—flora, fauna, ocean, and rivers—so that understanding becomes love, and love becomes care.
