Save The Waves Film Festival 2026 Comes to Guerrero
This October, Proyecto Saladita, A.C. will host two official stops of the Save The Waves Film Festival 2026 in Guerrero, bringing surf, film, ocean conservation, and community together along the Costa Grande.
October 24 — Playa La Saladita
Restaurante Marea
October 25 — Ixtapa-Zihuatanejo
Explanada del antiguo kiosco, Ixtapa
Both events are free and open to the public.
Surf, Ocean & Community
For Proyecto Saladita, hosting the Save The Waves Film Festival is about more than showing films. It is an opportunity to bring together residents, surfers, visitors, local businesses, and conservation partners around something we all share: the coast and the responsibility to care for it while continuing to enjoy the culture and way of life that make this community special.
This connection between surfing and coastal conservation is also part of our Nuestra Ola program, which explores the relationship between healthy waves, coastal ecosystems, local knowledge, and community participation.

October 24 — Playa La Saladita
The October 24 program will take place at Restaurante Marea, directly on the beach in Playa La Saladita.
The day will bring together surfing, community conversations, live music, fundraising activities, and the official Save The Waves Film Festival screening.

Silent Auction, Raffle & Fundraising
As part of the festival weekend, Proyecto Saladita will be raising funds to support our local conservation and environmental programs.
A silent auction will be available online throughout the weekend, featuring experiences, services, products, and other items donated by businesses and supporters.
Raffle tickets will also be available during the October 24 event.
Funds raised will support Proyecto Saladita programs related to coastal conservation, environmental education, recycling, community participation, and marine ecosystem protection.
October 25 — Ixtapa-Zihuatanejo
The festival continues on Sunday, October 25, with a second official stop in Ixtapa-Zihuatanejo.
The event will take place at the New plaza in Ixtapa’s main commercial area, across from Catcha la Ola, beginning at 5:00 p.m., with live music and the Save The Waves Film Festival screening as part of an evening open to residents and visitors.
This second date gives the community another opportunity to experience the festival and helps connect communities across the Costa Grande through surf culture, ocean conservation, music, and community participation.

Proyecto Saladita is a locally based nonprofit organization working with our community on coastal conservation, environmental education, recycling, marine protection, and citizen participation.
The Save The Waves Film Festival gives us another way to bring those conversations together through stories, surfing, music, and a shared appreciation for the coast we call home.
