Sea Turtle Conservation
Sea turtles have been returning to Playa La Saladita for generations, making this beach an important nesting area along Mexico’s Pacific coast.
Through education, community participation, and conservation efforts, Proyecto Saladita is working to help residents, visitors, businesses, and property owners better understand and coexist with these remarkable animals.
This program was inspired by training and knowledge shared by specialists from the Mexican Turtle Center (CONANP) and seeks to promote awareness, reduce preventable threats, and encourage community involvement in sea turtle conservation.
Why Should We Care?
Whether we live here, work here, own a business, welcome visitors, fish, surf, or simply enjoy the beach, we all benefit from a healthy coastal environment.
Sea turtles are one of the many species that depend on these beaches to survive.
Today, sea turtles continue to return to Playa La Saladita to nest despite facing increasing challenges from habitat loss, disturbance, pollution, and other human-related pressures throughout the world.
Protecting sea turtles does not require dramatic changes. Often, it begins with simple actions that help reduce unnecessary threats.
